telc exam for nurses in the recognition procedure

telc exam for nurses in the recognition procedure

The recognition procedure for nursing professions usually requires proof of German at level B2. We examine it regularly in Gießen — as an examination centre belonging to Lernwerkstatt Pflege, which is why we know what matters in this procedure.

Time pressure is usually the real opponent here: the recognition authority is waiting, the employment contract depends on it, and every week counts. That is why our dates are fixed, bookable online, and marked digitally.

Digital registration, digital exam

With us both are digital: the registration and the exam itself. For most people that is the reason to make the trip to Gießen.

  • Paperless registration: choose your date online, see the seats that are genuinely free, and get your confirmation by email straight away. No form to print, no opening hours to catch, no waiting for a call back.
  • Exam on screen: the written part is taken on a computer instead of on paper. Typed rather than handwritten, with headphones for the listening part — many find that easier than a sheet where nothing may be corrected.
  • Faster to your result: digital marking noticeably shortens the way from exam day to certificate. If you are working towards a deadline, that is time gained.

None of this changes the certificate: it is the same telc certificate, recognised nationwide and internationally, whether the exam was taken on screen or on paper.

By when do I have to register — and by when do I pay?

Registration closes 14 days before the exam. After that we cannot accept a registration, even if seats are still free: we register every candidate with telc and need that lead time.

  • Online by card: you pay when booking, which secures your seat immediately.
  • Paying on site: possible as long as the exam is more than 14 days away. The amount must reach us no later than 14 days before the exam.
  • Rebooking and cancelling: free of charge and self-service until 14 days before, via the link in your booking confirmation. After that only through us and against a handling fee.

In short: everything runs on the same deadline. Book and pay two weeks before your preferred date and you are on the safe side.

Which level do you need?

B1 and B2 are booked most often with us. Which level is right for you depends on what you need the certificate for:

  • telc Deutsch B1: the level usually required for naturalisation and residence permits. It shows that you can manage independently in everyday life, at work and when travelling.
  • telc Deutsch B2: frequently required in the recognition procedure for healthcare and nursing professions, and expected by many employers for a permanent post.
  • A1, A2 and C1: we examine these too — A1 and A2 for family reunification, for example, C1 for university and academic professions.

Important: which level applies in your case is decided by the authority or employer who will see the certificate. Ask them before you book. We are happy to advise on the procedure, but we cannot tell you which level your authority accepts.

All levels with prices, format and exam parts are listed under Exams.

Frequently asked

Is B2 enough for recognition? Most federal states require B2, sometimes plus a profession-specific exam. Only what your recognition authority states is binding — ask them before you book.

I have already passed one part. Then book only the missing part, oral or written. Bring proof of the part you passed — without it you cannot be admitted.

How to book

Pick a date, choose your level and variant, enter your contact details — done. The confirmation arrives by email straight away, and you can add the details telc needs later. All dates with available seats are listed under Dates.

Not sure whether something fits? Call us or write via Contact — on working days we usually reply the same day.
