2. Hosting and server log files

This website runs on a server operated by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. No permanent access log containing IP addresses is kept. For technical operation, the application produces error and operating logs which are overwritten automatically once a defined storage size is reached — in practice after a few days. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

3. Contact form

If you contact us via the contact form, we process the data you enter (name, email address, optionally phone and subject, and your message) in order to handle your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required and no statutory retention obligations apply.

4. Exam booking

To book or reserve a telc exam, we process the data you provide (name, email address, optionally phone, as well as the chosen date and exam variant) in order to initiate and perform the contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). The data is stored for the duration of the contract and within statutory retention periods.

5. Cookies

Technically necessary cookies, for example to store your language preference, are set without consent – the site does not work without them. Cookies for advertising purposes are only set if you have explicitly agreed in the consent banner; see section 7 for details.

6. Audience measurement

To improve our service we analyse which pages are accessed how often. For this we use the Umami software, which we host ourselves on the same server in Germany – no data is transferred to third parties. Umami does not set cookies and does not store your IP address. Instead, an irreversible checksum is calculated from your IP address, browser identifier and a random value that changes daily; it allows a visit to be recognised within one day, and once the day has passed even that link can no longer be established. No conclusions about you as a person are possible. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in data-minimising audience measurement (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). You can object to the measurement at any time by enabling “Do Not Track” in your browser or by blocking the script.

7. Google Analytics and Google Ads (only with your consent)

In addition to the cookie-free audience measurement we use Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). These services are only loaded after you have explicitly agreed in the consent banner. If you decline or make no choice, no Google script runs and no data is transmitted to Google.

With your consent, Google stores cookies on your device and processes information about your visit – including pages viewed, a shortened IP address, device and browser, and completed bookings with their amount. The legal basis for the storage on your device is Section 25 (1) TDDDG, and for the subsequent processing your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; Google bases this on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Also only with your consent, we store in your browser how you found us – for example through an advertisement, a search engine or a referring site – and which page you visited first. If you later book an exam, this information is attached to your booking so that we can tell which advertising actually leads to bookings. It expires after 30 days, stays on our own systems and contains no identifier that could be tracked beyond this website.

You can withdraw your consent at any time via the “Change consent” link in the footer of every page. Withdrawal takes effect for the future; information already attached to a booking is not affected.

8. Payment processing

For online card payment we use the payment provider Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., Ireland). When you book an exam you are redirected to Stripe's payment page; you enter your payment details directly with Stripe and we never receive them. Your email address, the invoice amount and an identifier for your booking are transmitted to Stripe. Processing serves the performance of the contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). This may involve a transfer to the USA, which Stripe bases on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. For details see Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

9. Email delivery

We send booking confirmations, reminders before the exam date and waiting list notifications via the service provider Resend (Resend, Inc., USA), acting as a processor on our behalf. Your email address and the content of the respective message are transmitted; delivery takes place via servers in the EU. The legal basis is performance of the contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).

10. Your rights as a data subject

With regard to your personal data, you have the following rights:

  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future.

11. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
